100 TICKET GIVEAWAY TO ROSKILDE FESTIVAL

Ants just partnered with Roskilde in a one hundred ticket giveaway for Germans, Swedes and Norwegians, who share empty seats in their cars with other guests on their way to Roskilde Festival. The new ridesharing initiative is a part of Roskilde Festival’s Green Footsteps campaign that encourages the guests to act with consideration for the environment before, during and after the festival.

“Since 2002 Roskilde has had social responsibility at its cornerstone, and in many ways this has been a catalyst for the development of ideas that today have become an integrated part of Roskilde Festival. Ridesharing with Ants fits perfectly into our campaign as an eco-friendly initiative that extends the festival experience for our guests in a fun and meaningful way”, says spokeswoman for Roskilde Festival, Christina Bilde.

In addition to the free full festival ticket, Roskilde will be granting VIP parking spots to the drivers using Ants during the festival.

 

A memorable ridesharing experience

For the popular ridesharing service Ants, the initiative is a new and exciting way to introduce its service to a whole new group of people from three countries.

“With Ants we empower people all over the world to share their cars, and our goal is to showcase the benefit from collaborative consumption in a meaningful way. The ridesharing initiative from Roskilde Festival using Ants will definitely make the ridesharing experiences memorable”, says Aleksander Soender, Ants’ CEO.

A full festival ticket has a value of 255 Euro and gives access to all nine days of the incomparable Roskilde Festival universe from June 29 to July 7 2013. The full music line-up will amount to around 200 artists including Rihanna, Kraftwerk, The National, Slipknot, Queens of the Stone Age, Sigur Rós and Volbeat.

Other than the new ridesharing initiative, the Green Footsteps Campaign can be found all over the entire festival area. Roskilde Festival makes it possible to stay in eco-friendly camps, ride bikes to charge your smartphone, to buy sustainable food in selected areas of the festival among many things.

 

How to get a free Full Festival Ticket

Roskilde Festival has donated a total of 100 free Full Festival Tickets to citizens in Germany, Norway and Sweden, who use Ants to share their ride with other guests heading to Roskilde Festival. Both driver and passengers must have a profile on Ants. When the ride has more than three passengers, Ants will contact the driver in order for him to confirm that everyone in the car has a valid ticket. If everyone has a valid ticket, the driver can claim his free full festival ticket on the day of arrival to the festival. Jelling Musikfestival is now on Ants

We’ve teamed up with the 3rd largest festival in Denmark Jelling Musikfestival to help visitors rideshare to and from the venue. The Ants widget is now embedded on the festival website and gives a quick overview of Ants users going to and from the festival site with empty seats.

Jelling Musikfestival is an annual four-day music festival held in Jelling in Jutland, Denmark. The event features many music genres including rock, hip hop and indie. The majority of the performers are Danish. The capacity is around 30.000 and headlining acts this year are Bryan Adams, Nephew and Volbeat. Tickets here

Ants Now in three languages

We’ve got some exciting new things in store with this update: two new languages and detection of phone numbers in ride comments and private messages.

Ants in Danish and Norwegian. You can now navigate Ants in your native language on mobile devices, making it easier for everyone in Denmark and Norway to sign up. We’ll add more languages soon. 

Ants will appear in the same language that your device is set to. To change your language setting on your device, go to your device setting application.

Phone numbers are now detected by Ants in ride comments and private messages. From today you can make phone calls and send SMS from your inbox and ride details on Ants.

Ants x Copenhell

Today we are thrilled to announce that we signed a partnership with Copenhell, the biggest heavy metal festival in Denmark. The two days festival takes place at an old abandoned industrial area at Refshaleøen, a part of the Danish harbour. There is great food, heavy metal karaoke in the famous Biergarten Tent and happy people everywhere.

The capacity is around 10,000, there are three stages, and the event attracts people from both Denmark and Sweden. This years lineup presents great bands like Alice In Chains and King Diamond.

The free embeddable Ants widget for events is now integrated on the Copenhell website. All visitors will get a quick overview of available seats going to and from the festival site. It is a great way for event organisers to help attendees save a lot of money.

Ants is launching for Windows Phone

We are thrilled to finally announce the Ants brand new app for Windows Phone 7.X and Windows Phone 8. It is free to download and free to use. As far as we know, Ants is the first ridesharing community marketplace for the Windows Phone platform - that’s pretty exciting!

Windows Phone is a beautifully designed platform and the fastest growing OS on the market, so we definately wanted to be present on this platform. We have taken advantage of the platform’s Live Tiles and home screen and toast notifications, so it is seamless for everyone to list and book rides, to check ratings on user profiles and to communicate on the go in the actual app.

We’re launching Ants for Web

Dear Ants Community,

Today we are launching Ants for Web in a public beta. Since our last update, we have grown fast and launched Ants for Android and Ants for iPhone. Four months ago we signed a partnership with Statoil and over 50.000 users now have access to the Ants Community through Statoil apps for Facebook, iPhone and Android in Denmark. In 2013 we expect to expand this partnership to the rest of Scandinavia to unlock even more affordable transport throughout Sweden, Finland and Norway.

Today we make it even more easy for our users to share rides. Team Ants has been working hard on improving our service as well as our apps for iPhone and Android, and today we are announcing Ants for Web.

There’s a huge demand for empty seats between the bigger cities in Scandinavia due to rising prices on gas and public transport. So don’t forget to share your unused seats when you’re on the road.

Add multiple rides on iPhone and Android

We have heard your feedback about offering rides and now we are excited to announce enhancements that make it easier to post multiple rides super fast. This is great for commuters going from home to work from Monday to Friday. When you click offer ride and choose “date” just select the days you are going.

In addition to the multiple rides feature we have added “return trips” which also makes it super easy to post your ride back from work for instance. New features are available in both Ants 1.3 for iPhone and Ants 1.1 for Android.

One more thing about our Android version. Push notifications are now enabled so you will receive information on ride requests, new followers, feedback and rides from your favorite routes in the notification center.
